What's refreshing about Thunder is that it's actually original in certain aspects of the storyline such as when they decide to shoot the film guerilla style in the jungle only to have the director of the film.- I'll leave this at that. I can't say I've ever seen any character like his in a film of this genre, which already I feel will enter the classics. In it, a desperate director named Damien Cockburn (Steve Coogan) trying to make a Vietnam war movie drops his pampered actors into the heart of the jungle.

Who I wholeheartedly feel - stole the show. Now, in a new interview for Esquire's 'Explain This' video series Ben Stiller who directed and starred in Tropic Thunder opened up about Cruise's antics as Grossman. While most of the humor was 'funny-but-i'm-not-laughing' the same amount of laugh out loud humor and gags was provided as well, courtesy of mostly Stiller and Downey Jr. Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller), pampered action superstar, sets out for Southeast Asia to take part in the biggest, most-expensive war movie produced. Beginning with trailers a la Grindhouse for every major character was already a sign of a hilarious film. A relentless hard R comedy that fuses elements of practically every famous war film ever made.

A comedy that is not Apatow's is refreshing nowadays. Saw this at the Washington, DC screening on the 10th. The multi-talented Stiller wrote the script along with Etan Cohen (co-author of the film formerly known as 3001 which is currently untitled) and Justin Thoreau.
